A Vampire's Wish Chap: 2

I sat on the ledge of a large window that lighted my bedroom with the low light of the moon. I watched various forms of lights, both from the sky and down below at the town. The lights in the town were slowly glowing dimmer as even the night owls retreated for the night. I was just out in the town naught but three hours ago, the rich young blood of a young woman was on the menu. Not only was my stomach full, so was my head. I was in deep thought, thinking about what's been on my mind for fifty years, a chance at parenthood….that's always been on my mind. I was brought out of my thoughts when a knock came to my door.

"My lord, are you asleep, or are you available?" said a voice. "Depends, why have you disturbed me?" I responded. "Forgive me, sir, but a witch has requested to see you. She's got something in her hand. Shall I let her in?" the voice replied. A witch?....Was it the witch that I've been seeing for the past five years to help me get a child?

An elderly woman, cloaked in a dark blue hood walked into the room. "Jaspire….it's completed…..but I don't know if it'll work." She said. I sat down on my coffin-like bed and motioned for her to sit next to me, where she handed me a small bottle containing some sort of green liquid. "Drink it, and the child that you long for may take root inside you. If not….then there's nothing more I can do." She said. I took the top off the bottle and gave it a small sniff…..the smell made me sick to my stomach.

"Ground pig's bone, ferns, and other ingredients are in that tonic." She said. No wonder it smelled terrible. I pinched my nose as I downed the green goop, and I felt like I was about to lose my dinner. After I swallowed it, I gagged a few times. "WATER! GET ME SOME WATER!" I yelled. It didn't take long for one of my servants to bring in a small cup of water, which helped get the disgusting taste out of my mouth and throat.

"It may take a while to know if it worked, so don't get your hopes too high." said the witch. I slowly got up and opened a drawer next to my bed. I pulled out a small bag that jingled slightly. "Here, even if it didn't work, this is for all your troubles." I said, handing the bag to the woman. She opened the bag then closed it. "Thank you. If you ever need any assistants from me again, if it's to get a child or some other ailment, you're more then welcome to come by." She said. The elder woman slowly got up and I personally helped her down the long stairs to large front door. "I'll inform you if a child is growing inside me." I told her. She smiled. "I know you will." She said before heading out the door.

As the night went on, I could feel something strange inside me. It wasn't my actual stomach that felt weird, it was….further down. In the same area as my intestines and other internal organs, finally inside me…..was a tiny, teeny tiny, little…..baby….my wish….my wish was finally coming true. In twelve months time, the child that I've longed for will be in my arms….and to be honest; I don't think I can wait that long for him….or her.
